Description: The Department of Government of Claremont McKenna College (CMC) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the subfields of public administration or public policy, beginning July 1, 2018. A qualified candidate, with PhD in hand or a nearly completed doctoral dissertation, would have research and teaching focus in public administration and/or public policy, as well as capacity to teach quantitative research methods. Desirable secondary competencies could include public opinion, state and local government, and urban politics. The candidate may also be asked to teach Introduction to American Politics. The candidate must have deep substantive interests in politics and government, a love of the liberal arts, and demonstrated quantitative skills. He or she must maintain an active, high quality research program and the highest standards of excellence in teaching. The teaching load at CMC is two courses per semester.
Procedures
and Timetable:
All applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, detailed research statement, and a statement regarding teaching philosophy. Letters of recommendation are required from three or more references and should evaluate the candidate’s research and teaching. The review of applications will begin August 15, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled.
