| Description: | The Department of Literature at Claremont McKenna College (CMC) invites applications for a tenure-track position, at the assistant or associate professor level for a novelist or short story writer, with at least one published book. A secondary interest in creative nonfiction is welcome. The position will begin on July 1, 2025. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate fiction workshops and seminars in addition to the first-year writing seminar. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate must have a strong record of publication and the highest standards of excellence in teaching. Also, an interest in program development and leadership of the creative writing program are required. Applications should include a cover letter; curriculum vitae; artistic statement; teaching statement that addresses the candidate’s ability to teach, mentor, and inspire students representing a broad range of backgrounds; evidence of teaching effectiveness; and a writing sample. Applicants must also submit names and email addresses of three referees; an email will be automatically sent to them with a link to upload their confidential recommendation letter.
